Why SLPHA?

Somaliland Pharmaceutical Association established on 1st of November-2001 is a national professional association of a pharmacist representing the pharmacy profession in Somaliland, united for the common good to advance public health, patient care and the interests of the pharmacy profession.
It was the first health professional association established in Somaliland. It is the only Health Professional Association mentioned in the National Drug policy in 2001 we participated in the formulation of the National Drug Policy 2002 conducted several trainings sponsored by WHO for medicines vendors in all the Regions and the Public sector pharmacy and Medical Stores.

We aspire to advance the health and well-being of the society and to become one of the leading professional associations in Somaliland, A model in Africa and globally respected.

  • To promote ethical and standardized pharmacy practice.
  • To contribute our share in the health care delivery system of the country.

According to the SLPHA’S constitution ratified in 2015, the association has the following basic

 

  • To safeguard the honor and ethics of the profession and to foster professional and social relationship among pharmacy professionals.
  • Take necessary measures in order to safeguard professional pharmacist rights.
  • To find ways of improving the training and developmentby establishing close relationship with pharmacy training institutions and executing organizations.
  • To facilitate enrichment of the profession by establishing relationship with health associations and organizations within the country and abroad.
  • To actively participate in the evaluation, registration and licensing of pharmacy professionals by collaborating with the relevant governmental authorities and training institutions.
  • Accountability: We hold ourselves to the highest standards of performance toward reasonable and achievable goals. We accept responsibility for the outcome of our work, as well as the process that leads to it.
     
  • Collaboration: We are unified by a common purpose. We encourage communication, coordination and team-based approaches to address clearly stated goals and objectives.
     
  • Integrity: We operate with honesty, fairness, and the highest ethical standards to sustain a community of professionalism and trust.
     
  • Respect: We promote a culture of inclusiveness, celebrate our diversity by treating all people equally, value individual contributions and encourage open and effective communication.
